After the early autumn show period in Helsinki Studio Total says goodbye to the rock cave beneath the Finnish National Museum – at least for now. The journey continues towards south and the next waypoints are in Denmark and in France. Over the autumn it will be possible to follow the theatre’s activities online.

 

Survivors premiering in Copenhagen on October 5th, 2021

 

SURVIVORS, a dance performance for two actors (Troels Hagen Findsen (DK) & Anna Lipponen), invites the audience into tragicomic loop that pursues the all too human feeling of constantly wearing oneself out without really knowing why and for whom.

Survivors is created by Taneli Törmä – Location X in co-operation Studio Total’s artists. The show premieres on October 5th 2021 in Copenhagen at Teater FÅR 302.

Choreographer Taneli Törmä’s movement together with actor-director Anna Lipponen’s text creates a 60-minutes long poetical marathon. The spoken word sets the body in motion while the dynamics of the moving body inflates the words with a new meaning. A parallel monologue between the two actors brings the audience step by step into a manipulative landscape.

RadioLove at Voila! Europe online program in November

 

Studio Total’s show RadioLove is presented in the online programme of this year’s Voila! Europe festival (London, UK). The festival is produced by the Cockpit in London.

RadioLove is shown as an On Demand recording on November 18th 2021 at 19:00 (UK time). After the show there will be a discussion event where director Anna Lipponen and others from the crew talk about the show and its creating process.

The recording and the discussion event are available on demand until December 1st 2021.

RadioLove is an hour-long absurd stage show inspired by Fassbinder, Kaurismäki and Lynch. Dreams become images, reality meets radio ether and excess takes control over homo sapiens. The themes of the evening are loneliness, otherness and love. RadioLove answers your questions and makes you visible.

 

On the road to Lyon
(IETM Plenary meeting in October)

 

Studio Total is a theatre – but even more it is continuum. It is a nomad institution that defines itself by each artistic creation. It takes whatever structure is necessary for each stage production. As a nomad group Studio Total is at home in Helsinki, Zürich, Bergen, Vilnius, Copenhagen – wherever its shows are seen, or where meaningful encounters between artists are made. Studio Total is a journey. A constant movement forward towards something new: a future that defines itself anew every day.

For these reasons Studio Total wants to be connected to such networks as IETM – International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts. In October Anna and Jaakko head towards Lyon, France to participate in IETM Plenary meeting. Meeting international theatre makers in these kinds of events is significant for the very essence of what Studio Total is. Keeping up with colleagues’ work, making new friends and even challenging the way we see our own processes are the fuel that keeps us moving forward.
